Now In-Store: Romona Keveza Legends Spring 2010 January 2, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — plumed @ 3:41 pm
This is a fun time of the year for us – new dresses start coming in and it is like getting a presents from the designers.  We are going to try and profile a new dress we receive each week so we may share with you our excitement!
We just received this gown in from Romona Keveza from her Legends collection.  It is truly stunning.  The runway pictures do not do it justice.  It is incredibly stylish and fashionable.  The sweetheart neckline and extended waist are so flattering – and amazingly – it is an all lace gown for under $3500!
A breathtaking piece from her Spring 2010 collection!

Thought this was such an interesting article – and a trend that I have definitely noticed in the store.

Holiday Celebration 2009 December 17, 2009

As I sit down to write this blog – my eyes are a little tired and weary – as well as bloodshot.  But after the amazing celebration we had at the salon last night – it is well worth it.  Everyone is so busy during the holiday season it is often difficult to get friends and familytogether.  We had an amazing turnout last night!  Together with Traci Romano, Lindsay Maurath of Fresh LiME Events and Jordan Caterers we hosted a FANTASTIC holiday party at the salon.
(Special thanks to Karen Hill & Bruce Plotkin for the photographs!)

A few lessons learned:

Evite is not always the best choice of invitations as they go into too many spam mailboxes!

I love the way the store looks when it is “dressed” for the holidays

Marshmellows, eggs, and milk make for incredible displays.

No matter who you are – if you are in a bridal shop – you are going to play with the dresses!

Photographers love being in front of the camera as much as they enjoy being behind it!

I really, REALLY like marshmellows!

Everyone gets a little sillier after a few trips to the prosecco bar

There is nothing like being around good food and good friends to make your holidays complete!
Thank you to everyone who came and helped make our celebration a success!!  I hope everyone has a happy and healthy holiday and a fantastic New Year!  Here’s to 2010!!

Holiday Gift for Our Clients December 3, 2009

We are happily donating a portion of all sales in the month of December to Operation Hope.  Operation Hope provides a variety of helpful services to people who are homeless and at-risk of homelessness.  They operate three shelter, a food bank and a soup kitchen.  In these times – it is important to give back and remember those who have so much less.

The Plumed Serpent’s Holiday

In between Thanksgiving and the New Year – there is a holiday that no one but me celebrates.  I had the honor of taking over The Plumed Serpent December 1, 2000.  That was a big day for me.  I was 25 years old and really did not know what I was getting into.

I had previously worked at Ralph Lauren and Nicole Miller as an account executive.  Both were great places to work and both had fantastic perks – (can anyone say expense account and clothing allowance??)  But I was missing the connection of working with people – not just buyers for stores – but actual clients.  So – the opportunity to take over The Plumed Serpent came my way – and in my somewhat impulsive, confident manner – I seized it.

That was nine years ago.  As I have grown so has the store.  My family has grown by two children and the store has grown by about 1000 square feet!  If I can survive 2:00 am feedings and a complete gut job on my salon – I can survive anything!

I have always said that we are not just selling wedding gowns – we are providing an experience.  I would like to thank everyone who has been apart of this experience for the past nine years.  Good, bad, pretty and ugly – I love what I do and I love that I am a part of people’s history.  I have the honor of being a part of a very special day.

Thank you for giving me this honor!
